The Ministry of Art (MOA) is an art gallery and event space in St.Kilda, Melbourne that has been operating successfully for over three years. As well as hosting art exhibitions, the Ministry of Art is increasingly being sought out as a unique venue for events such as corporate client functions, product launches, private dinner parties, birthday celebrations, Hen’s parties, art events, music performances and photo shoots.

We are looking for a vibrant, well organised, motovated self-starter with good communication and people skills, to develop this event opportunity on a revenue-share basis. Whatever age or gender be it someone wanting to get out on their own or get back into a new experience there is a fantastic opportunity offered here at MOA.

This role offers the opportunity to develop your own events business based within a contemporary art gallery and event venue. The successful applicant will base themselves, rent-free, with no outgoings at the Ministry of Art Gallery surrounded by art, with access to the combined networks of the four owner/directors and will share in any revenue created.

Ideally coming from an events/sales/PA background, the successful candidate will be able to leverage the support of an experienced team who run the gallery – professionals from sales, production, accounting, building & construction, branding and marketing backgrounds – to create highly engaging events for clients.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Willing to back themselves as a self-starter to create their own business opportunity

  • Proactive in outbound marketing to develop a pool of prospective clients who will hire the gallery for events

  • Skilled at promoting event possibilities at the gallery venue

  • Managing client events from taking an initial brief through to delivery

  • Experienced at managing various event activities such as theming, catering, lighting, bump-in, bump-out & logistics

  • Process driven and has a disciplined approach to sales and service

  • Seeking exciting new challenges

  • Loves art and creativity

  • Wanting to create equity from their own endeavour.

In order to succeed in this role you will have:

  • The willingness to work for revenue-share, not salary

  • A positive attitude & willingness to learn

  • Experience in event management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • A passion for getting results

  • The ability to create memorable events for clients

The remuneration model is negotiable but has the following guiding principles;

  • 35% revenue share on any events introduced

  • Role based at Ministry of Art

    • Rent free

    • Free access to wi-fi, phones, kitchen & toilet facilities

    • Keys to the gallery – access 24/7

    • Flexible hours at your discretion

    • No fixed salary
